Recently Islamist terrorist attacked the countries telecommunications infrastructure. Thus communication in some parts of the country is almost nonexistence. The experts and many civilians expressed concern that the lack of communication would give rise to criminal activity and not more acts of terrorism. Some advocates argue that this spike in lawlessness in a direct consequence of difficult economic times and lack of political participation. In my opinion the explosion in Nigeria’s criminal activity has nothing to do with politics or economics. Criminal organizations are stepping up their illegal activities because the government is not in position to oppose them or seriously impede their operations. To these organizations crime pays.
This sounds like somebody within Nigeria or even outside the country wants a second civil war to begin. CNN and Aljazeera report that this is the doing of the armed forces. The military is said to have killed a lot of civilians in Maiduguri in the name of fighting Boko Haram. I have said also that what is happening in Borno state is reminiscent of Iraq and Afghanistan with civilians being murdered by soldiers but this time it is a domestic force. On the other hand, former CNN journalist Amber Lyon has said that CNN often gives misleading information when it comes to geo-politics. For instance, she did a documentary on Bahrain's repressive government and because Bahrain is on the good side of major Western powers and also the CNN producers were bought off by the government of Bahrain, CNN blocked the documentary and sacked Ms. Lyon. This will sound like a charge but could CNN and Aljazeera have been bought out by certain neo-conservative groups in the West, some who really have great hatred of Nigeria, and also want access to crude oil resources here, to create an impression that the state is involved in genocide against Northern Muslims? Or are there forces inside government looking to start a religious war so they can enrich themselves off of people's blood? The public better start to see that this is about far more than petty ethnic and religious divisions that the Nigerian media likes us to believe.
