Mbeki Named 'African of the Year' for Efforts in Sudan


Former South African president Thabo Mbeki has been named "African of the Year' in recognition of his outstanding leadership as chair of the African Union's High Level Implementation Panel on Sudan (AUHIP). Mbeki has guided the panel's work in helping Sudan and South Sudan reach important agreements on security issues and disputes over oil.
