Nigeria does not need a “Wheelbarrow” for president. Jonathan’s deceptive but humble mien may conjure weakness or naiveté to the livid detractors. But he is quickly matured with time, proving himself to be richly endowed with enormous prudence. He understands that discretion is the better part of valor. The insidious army of manipulative cabal of EX-THESE and EX-THOSE see themselves as the apex predators; they must always have both their way and the final say. The perceive President Jonathan disadvantaged by the absence of the military pedigree to his persona, or the chivalry of romantic flirtation with ex-coupe makers, retired generals and oil-bloc moguls. Jonathan is one man with a mind of his own, not the porn to be pushed around on a chessboard. This President may well symbolize the instrument of a nation’s clean break from the tyranny of a hydra-headed plutocratic CABAL system. That is the leader we need. Ex- President Obasanjo is known for his ebullience. “Umaru, are you dead?”, “I dey kampe”, "I dey laugh”, “You are a fool at 70”, “I had to nip it in the bud and that was the end of that particular problem “, are clear and unambiguous statements, ample proof of the ex-President is not speech-impaired. And as far as memory can recall, he has not been known to have been diagnosed for dyslexia. But there is this professional cash-and-carry, sycophantic apologist who parades himself in the garb of the only historian since Christendom, insinuating the contrary. He reads Obasanjos’s mind, then tells us that the ex-President, after all, dyslexic; his “comments have been misconstrued,…. his views misrepresented”. He lied that Obasanjo “….never said that the Odi treatment should be applied to Boko Haram or that such action is appropriate in these circumstances”. He went on with his usual convoluted ramble for ignorant, gullible listeners. Then, he tells us what Obasanjo ought to have said, as well as what he (Fani-Kayode) says he said: “What he (obasanjo) said was that a solution ought to have been found or some sort of action ought to have been taken sooner rather than allow the problem to fester over time like a bad wound and get worse” What exactly does the fork-tongued Fani-Kayode mean by “…. some sort of action ought to have been taken …….”? That again is a pathetic repair-work fabrication of the compulsive fabulist. Obasanjo was unequivocal; he clearly said that “……On (the) two occasions I had to attend to the problem I faced at that time. I sent soldiers to a place and 19 of them were killed. If I had allowed that to continue, I will not have authority to send security whether police, soldier and any force any where again. So, I had to nip it in the bud and that was the end of that particular problem". The loud-mouthed prevaricating storyteller’s follow-up was to flaunt is some stupid “history”, how a whopping 3000 precious white people died in 100 years of I.R.A. rebellion, as against the same casualty figure among Nigerian Southerners and Christian low-lifers in 3 years of Boko Haram mayhem. In other words, at the consistent rate of 1000 deaths per year, Boko Haram would have scaled the 100,000 range should Jonathan’s tenure “elongate” through 97 more years, along with Boko Haram maintaining the rate of kill. 100,000 is no big deal for 100 years, after all; that is ‘peanuts’, as they say. Besides, it may be a very good thing for the Northerners at the end of the day. Fani-Kayode thinks it is smart to invoke the 100-year Northern Ireland hyperopic diversionary to advance an agenda of opportunistic cronyism. Over 50,000 innocent citizens were hacked to death by barbaric awusa mobs, collaboratively with Nigerian soldiers in the short 180-day space between July, 1966 thro January, 1967. It happened under our own very nose, right here in this country. In the 3-year unnecessary shooting war foisted by Yakubu Gowon, an estimated 3.1 million Igbo lives were mindlessly destroyed. And there are no apologies! The jerk called Femi Fani-Kayode finds it most convenient indeed to throw a thick, wet rug over Nigeria’s 1966 opprobrious indiscretion, and then give us his idiotic Irish history lecture. Again, at a 1,000,000/yea kill rate, Gowon would record 100,000,000 Igbo deaths in a hypothetical “TENURE EXTENSION” stretched through 100 years. The hypocritical mouthpiece-for-hire thinks he can fool everybody with flowery concoctions devoid of any entertainment value. Fani-Kayode is just not a very honest person. His struggle to pretend to be unfazed by these stupendous “gowonian” albatross defines him as impulsively fraudulent. It is doubtful if anybody is impressed with the way his brain makes twists, turns and acrobatic summersaults. Ex-President Obasanjo is a brave man for admitting ‘NIPPING IT IN THE BUD on the two occasions’ of ODI and Zaki Biam. By extension, he has demonstrated awesome courage in accepting full responsibility for the unwarranted slaughter of scores of innocent, innocuous villagers whose sleepy homesteads were vandalized or destroyed in those misguided, blood-curdling misadventures. Yakubu Gowon, of all people now sees such conducts as “IRRESPONSIBLE”… and wonders shall never end. There is no doubt Obasanjo has committed to demonstrate similar courage and to answer to charges of gross human rights violations being pressed by survivors of the Odi massacre, at the International Criminal Court. At some point, it becomes problematic to resolve the Obasanjo enigma. There is an Obasanjo that prescribes the ODI FORMULA; another Obasanjo took a mediation trip to the terrorists’ den, reporting that, "…They (Boko Haram) stated their grievances and I (Obasanjo) promised to relay them to the authorities in power, because that was the best I (Obasanjo) could do”. There is yet another Obasanjo under whose watch the Kalakuta Republic was invaded and vandalized by the famed UNKNOWN SOLDIERS in a shameful saga left an entire nation shell-shocked. Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti , a highly respected anti-colonial activist, was hurled through a window of her story building apartment to the concrete turf below by able bodied armed toops. She died of multiple bone-fracture injuries. Now, listening to his mealy-mouthed submission at the National Summit, this same duplicitous Fani-Kayode challenged the nation’s leadership “to show courage” and strength in dealing expeditiously with the Boko Haram menace. The self-acclaimed HISTORY WHIZZKID needs to be precise in defining which of those Obasanjos and Femi Fani-Kayodes we should be looking at now. The jack-in-the-box needs to volunteer full disclosure of Obasanjo’s position on some of his buddies' 2011 promise to “make the place ungovernable” for in-coming President Jonathan. Or how he intends to tackle Gowon for the damning criticism of what he (Gowon) characterized as Obasanjo’s “IRRESPONSIBILE" ODI prescription. It is not quite certain if the ODI and ZAKI BIAM communities ever got half a chance Boko Harams got from Obasanjo to “state their grievances” before the slaughter was ordered. Innocent Igbo men, women and children got no chance of a hearing before their condemnation to a barbaric state-promoted pogrom in 1966. Rather than lampoon Obasanjo for Odi prescription ‘irresponsibility’, Gowon should be better advised to follow on the former’s footsteps, “show courage” like a soldier, and accept responsibility for the Igbo genocide he presided over. It is not a mark of bravery to play the side-line critic or the clannish surrogate for the cultic, awusa-Arewa master. Knowing Obasanjo and his Fani-Kayode larky as professed Igbophobic ideologues, it is not hard to decode the intention of the gang-up he forges to promote leadership shift to the North. Logically decoded, the move, in as much as it seeks a vengeful humiliation of Jonathan and the Ijaw people, it is aimed primarily at scuttling any Igbo 2015 presidential aspirations. That is Olusegum Obasanjo’s subterranean master plan. To a lesser extent, it is to build a proactive bulwark, in cahoots with Babangida, to frustrate any ambition of their dreaded, common foe, Mohamadu Buhari. I daresay that it is delusional for any one individual to regard the ignoble art of vindictiveness an exclusive preserve. Jonathan is the President, not a proxy. He must stand his ground with firm meanness; ignore the negative self-seeking propaganda of the cabal as the electorate is solidly behind him. He must focus on what is right, rather than on what pleases to stay on the correct side of history. He has no choice at this stage but to stay the course.
Dear Editor, Please note that President Jonathan did not refuse to pick up Obasanjo's calls. The line was and is a dedicated line that is undergoing some upgrading.Trust me! I am a good man.
