Its ironical to see that Bakassi indigenes are largely opposed to be offered Cameroon nationality even for free, yet most people know that many Nigerians would not hesitate to go to great lengths to acquire Cameroon passports when travelling abroad. Unfortunately the Bakassi people either due to their population or lack of exposure to the international community, do not have the means to let the world know what kind of a hell this country Cameroon is. If given all the stories people peddle around about crime and lawlessness in Nigeria, and the resultant insecurity for its citizens, yet Nigerians who have experienced life in Cameroon would not want Cameroon citizenship, that explains like no other thing that Cameroon might even be worse than Nigeria by all standards. It is only the huge Nigerian population that amplifies its negative points and not that the negative points in themselves surpasses that of other countries - Cameroon being an example. I am a Cameroonian and I might prefer Cameroon to Nigeria to live in but just because I have family in Cameroon and know it better. But if people who have family here in Cameroon and know it better than Nigeria but would prefer to be Nigerians , then Cameroon is a complete disgrace to Africa. But its amazing how Cameroon has disguised its real image from the international community for so long that whenever corruption, human rights abuse and crime is mentioned outsiders will think Cameroon is a next to heaven.
