Stealing the nations petroleum have been regular practice by foregn shipping companies and executives in the oil industry . Many foreign oil companies opoerating in the country made this part of their trade mark to arrange for shipping companies fromn their homeland to prk in the middle of Nigerian high sea to fill their ships with NIgerian Petroleum even though there was international law against the practice. Nigeria today can not even police the nation and ensure citizen life and property bis safe, not to talk about protecting mid-sea petroleum robbery . This is exactlty why we want Jonathan out of government because he has no legal authority to manage the nations economy nor the respect it takes to rule a nation . He lost vthose mandate from the day he beacame a liar and bnabysitting looters and rougues in his government. Shell is etter advised to continue doing business as usual with jonathan because they made him by their various ntrigues from the civil war days to modern times.
SHELL CRYING THIEVES IS LIKE THIEVES CRYING THIEVES? RIGHT FROM EARLY DAYS WHEN NIGERIANS HAD NEITHER THE KNOWLEDGE NOR THE SKILLS NEEDED IN THE OIL SECTOR, OIL WAS BEING STOLEN. WE ALL KNOW WHERE THE STOLEN OIL GO TO. IT DOES NOT END UP IN KAFANCHAN OR BIRNI GWARI. SO WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO SAY? WE ALL KNOW THEIR REASONS BOTH LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND THEIR OWN COUNTRY'S AUTHORITIES AND JUDICIAL SYSTEM IS DEMANDING THAT SHELL SITS UP.IT CAN NO LONGER STEAL AND SPILL AND GET AWAY SCOTT FREE WITH IT. THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT IS CLOSING THE DOORS ON ITS CRIMES, NIGERIANS ARE GOING TO INTERNATIONAL COURTS TO DEMAND JUSTICE OVER SHELL'S ILLEGAL AND ACTIVITIES AND NEGLIGENCE SO IT MUST PAINT OUR GOVERNMENT BLACK. SUCH CHEAP BLACKMAIL IS UNACCEPTABLE TO NIGERIANS.
Just a few hundred kilometers of pipeline would be hard to police. I do not believe that the pipeline can be effectively protected from vandals and theft. Given the length of the pipeline and vastness of the area, Nigeria simply does not have the resources to protect the pipeline. Also, there appears to be a thriving black market for crude oil. As in other parts of Nigerian society there seems to be a general lack of respect for property rights and, in general, the law. It would not surprise anyone if it turns out that some governmental officials are directly involved in the theft of the crude.
