South Sudan President Dismisses VP, All Ministers

South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit has dismissed the country's vice president and all members of the Cabinet, amid rising internal tensions as well as ongoing disputes with the country's northern neighbor Sudan. South Sudan marked the second anniversary of its independence from Sudan on July 9. A month ago, four longtime American supporters of South Sudan warned in a letter to Kiir "that without significant changes and reform, your country may slide toward instability, conflict and a protracted governance crisis".
