With such tragic loss of life not only in Yobe and now Borno states, this state of emergency is becoming increasingly ineffective as time goes by.
In other parts of the world, those responsible for this operation would be relieved of their duties, to be replaced by theoretically more capable persons.
The idea of informers is that they discretely inform the security services (and are rewareded for their efforts), it is then upto the security services to engage Boko Haram members with a minimum loss of life.
These CJTF are not equipped or trained adequately to deal with Boko Haram, the local authorities and the army should not take it for granted that they will willingly sacrifice themselves. A time will come when they turn their anger and frustration on the army!
This current method is unwise and irresponsible and should be stopped immediately. An urgent re-think is required.
We need professionalism, competence and co-operation.
Just because they are CJTF doesn't mean their lives are worthless.
