Liberia Responds to Press Freedom Critiques

Liberia has issued several reponses to charges that news media are under assault in the west African nation. Information Minister Lewis Brown sent a five-page letter to the Committee to Proptect Journalists. Earlier, the government responded to an opinion piece in the New York Times written by imprisoned jounalist Rodney Sieh, in which he questions President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf's commitment to press freedom.
