Sirleaf Doubling Down on Ebola - Sending VP to Washington Summit
Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has announced the launch of a National Action Plan to fight the spread of Ebola, which she said is "ravishing our country - claiming the lives of many of our countrymen". She pledged $5 million from the government "to begin the immediate implementation of this plan", and also announced that Vice President Joseph Boakai and "a few cabinet ministers whose presence are absolutely necessary" will represent Liberia at next week's U.S.-Africa Summit in Washington, DC.
