Nimble Approaches for Rockefeller's New Century

In its centennial year, the Rockefeller Foundation launched an initiative to encourage and support cities around the world to prepare for the shocks and stresses of today's world.  Managing Director for Africa Mamadou Biteye says the 100 Resilient Cities Challenge and other instances of innovative grant making draw upon history but look to the future. AllAfrica's urban issues section examines the problems and possibilities of urbanization - asking planners, scholars, activists and particularly urban residents for experiences, insights and ideas to make cities more livable
