Ebola Success Built on Polio Campaign - Push to End Polio Grows

When Ebola showed up in Lagos in July, Nigeria used the network created to eliminate polio to track down contacts and contain the virus. On the occasion on World Polio Day 2014, there are renewed calls to intensify efforts to eradicate polio. 'We are this close to eliminating polio' is the theme of this year's appeal from Rotary International and Rotary's international polio ambassador, Nigerian business leader Sir Emeka Offor, a leading contributor to the polio fight through the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation and Rotary International.
