Dossier - U.S. Defends Easing of Sudan Sanctions

The White House announced plans to remove the trade embargo against Sudan and unblock the assets of the Sudan government, folowing what U.S. officials called "a sustained effort of intensive bilateral engagement." Sudan has made humantarian improvements and is cooperating on fighting terrorusm, the officials said. The move was welcomed by the Sudan government and criticized by human rights activists.
