Nigerian President Orders Probe into Missing Aid Funds
President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal over corruption allegations involving the misuse of humanitarian funds meant to avert famine in the north-east of the country. Babachir Lawal has been under intense pressure to resign since December 2016, when a senate committee found him guilty of mismanagement of funds.
