End Of An Era as Kenya Awaits New Standard Gauge Railway

The operator of Kenya's new standard gauge railway is "full steam ahead" for the June 1 launch. The diesel-powered locomotives will be faster than the rickety colonial-era relic the SGR is replacing.

On Friday, April 28, Kenya Railways’ old passenger train made its final trip from Nairobi to Mombasa as the company awaits the commissioning of the Standard Gauge Railway in June.
