South African 'Tiny Giant' Trade Unionist Emma Mashinini Dies

Emma Mashinini was a trade unionist who founded the Commercial Catering and Allied Workers Union in 1975. - it has since been renamed the South African Catering and Commercial Allied Workers Union. She served on the country's Truth and Reconciliation Commission and and became the Commissioner for Restitution of Land Rights. She received numerous awards including the Order of the Baobab and the Order of Luthuli.
