Former South African Finance Ministers in Police Unit's Sights
The Hawks police unit has renewed an investigation into former finance minister Pravin Gordhan and called on his predecessor Trevor Manuel to provide an affidavit on the establishment of a South African Revenue Service investigative unit on which Gordhan served as commissioner. Gordhan previously faced allegations of fraud over the early retirement and reinstatement of former Revenue Service commissioner Ivan Pillay before Prosecution Authority head Shaun Abrahams subsequently dropped the charges.
