Mineral Exports Play Huge Role in Rwanda's Economic Upswing

The economy which grew by over 210% to U.S.$248.5 million compared to U.S.$80.1 million in 2016, has been boosted by the mining sector which has undergone significant changes in the past few months. This includes the establishment of a Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board that will provide oversight to the sector, Finance and Economic Planning Minister, Claver Gatete has said.
