Bank Notes Litter Cape Town Highway After Cash-In-Transit Heist

Colonel Brenda Muridili has confirmed that officers are investigating a cash-in-transit heist on Jakes Gerwel Drive in Cape Town where bystanders said they witnessed an explosion and gunfire. This comes after the Hawks police unit claimed to have arrested an explosives "kingpin" in Mpumalanga who allegedly supplied weapons used for heists in that province. The recent spate of cash-in-transit robberies prompted Police Minister Bheki Cele to declare "war" on those involved in the crimes, promising quicker responses by officers.
