The newly appointed Tanzania Mining Commission appointed recently by President John Magufuli says despite the construction of a protective wall around Merelani mines smuggling of the Tanzanite gemstone still persists. An official has accused Tanzanite business agents of engaging in corruption and blamed the lack of modern inspection equipment at the exit.
