Pamela Aruwa won a serving tray in the raffle. She has been living in Kibera for three years, since Kenya's 2007 post-election violence forced her to flee her home in Limuru, about 20km from Nairobi.

Back in Limuru, Pamela's business was renting out houses. Here in Kibera she runs a small shop down the street from the water vendor selling beauty products, jewelry and sweets.

Thirteen-year-old Felix Ochieng won a packet of spaghetti in the raffle, saying, "I'm going to bring it home and eat it." Many of the people gathered to watch the raffle were children.

Residents pump water. Filling a 20-litre can with water costs 3 Kenyan shillings. Life Force Kiosks' services aim to address possible contamination in three ways: chlorine tablets for possible contamination through rusty pipes, soap to wash jerrycans to combat dirty containers, and eventually closed storage containers so water can't be contaminated in the home through contact.

Washington Odhiambo is a local water vendor in Gatwekera who sells Life Force Kiosks' services and says it helps his business to be able to offer water treatment. LFK currently works with 10 water vendors in Gatwekera, training them in the importance of treatment, supplying them with chlorine and soap, and running raffles from their kiosks.
