What do a fireman, an employee at a towel factory and a coffee barista have in common? They make up the Department of Coffee (DOC), a new coffee shop in Cape Town's Khayelitsha settlement.

Vusumzi Mamile, Vuyile Msaku and Wongama Baleni run the township's first coffee shop.

They have also added a variety of fresh juices to welcome summer.

They will have their own smoothie recipes, serve ice lattes and a "spar spare shot", which is DOC's name for a cold cappuccino.
