The Media Situation in Angola - Obstacles and Possibilities

Following the end of the civil war in Angola in 2002, a number of organizations involved in media development in Southern Africa have on different occasions discussed the options for support to the media sector in Angola. In the beginning of 2003, MISA (Media Institute of Southern Africa), the Open Society Institute and IMS agreed to try to advance the process by fielding a joint assessment mission with the objective of ensuring a coordinated approach by donor organisations and NGO’s working in the field of press freedom and media assistance.
