Smallholder farmers in Malawi are adapting to the changing climate but increasingly frequent droughts and floods are trapping them in a cycle of poverty and hunger, a new study by ActionAid has found. ActionAid’s research in rural Malawi and six African cities, released at the COP12 international conference on climate change in Nairobi, illustrates how global warming is exposing poor countries to increasing risk of hunger and poverty.
