The present report is submitted pursuant to Security Council resolution 1794 (2007), by which the Security Council extended the mandate of the United Nations Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) until 31 December 2008 and requested me to report regularly on major developments in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The present report covers the period since my last report of 2 April (S/2008/218), from 25 March to 20 June.
