Confusion and intrigues in the troubled - ridden National Hospital Insurance Fund played out in the open Yesterday as board members differed over the controversial medical scheme. Drama ensued after the board Chairman, Professor Richard Muga announced at a morning board meeting that he had suspended the CEO Richard Kerich, a position that was immediately rebutted by Vice Chair Wilson Sossion. The suspension order was later overturned by Medical Services Minister Professor Anyang' Nyong'o who instead directed that the chairman be suspended for insubordination, only for the chairman to scoff at his suspension, saying he could only vacate office on President Kibaki's orders. Willis Raburu reports on the drama that ended with the ouster of Professor Muga, while Kerich was reinstated.
