Uganda: Opposition Chief Whip loses House Seat

FDC's Winfred Kizza, who has been the opposition Chief Whip in Parliament, has lost her seat as the Kasese District Woman MP. The Court of Appeal ruled this morning that over 6000 votes were wrongfully invalidated by the Electoral Commission in the 2011 polls, which substantially affected the outcome of the election. The Court ordered the Commission to compensate the petitioner, Rehema Muhindo, and to also hold fresh elections.
