Today the United States Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton addressed students and guests at the University of the Western Cape.
Clinton called on South Africans to live up to the legacy of human rights and democracy that Nelson Mandela and many others left behind.
US Secretary of State also told guests at UWC that South Africa has proven that it does not take an all out civil war to bridge the divide between people who grew up disliking one another.
Outside UWC it was a different story as Pan Africanist Student Movement of Azania and local activists were protesting.
They were holding up signs such as "shame on UWC", "down with imperialism", "end the genocide of Palestinians" and "stop supporting murderous Israel".
