Kenya: Learning Paralysed in Public Universities

Learning was paralyzed in the country's seven public universities as the university lecturers also officially begun their strike. Lecturers interrupted the orientation programme for first year students at the University of Nairobi as they held peaceful demonstrations at the campuses. The Universities' Academic Staff Union - UASU, the University Non-Teaching Staff Union - UNTESU and KUDHEIA, the domestic workers union body are demanding that the government fully implements the 2010 / 11 Collective Bargaining Agreement as Sally Mbilu reports.
