Attempts to resolve the ongoing teachers strike suffered a setback after government officials failed to appear before the Parliamentary Education Committee. Finance Minister Njeru Githae who had snubbed two other summons last week, together with representatives from several other government agencies, failed to show up again even as the strike which has now entered its 3rd week paralyzed learning ahead of next month's final examinations for standard eight and form four candidates.
