An indication of just how strongly next year's General Election will be contested was manifested in yesterday's constituency and civic by-elections which saw key political personalities and political parties pull all stops to assert their supremacy. Uhuru Kenyatta's The National Alliance Party (TNA), which is relatively new on the scene, posted the best performance, grabbing two parliamentary seats and a host of civic seats across the country. Prime Minister Raila Odinga's ODM too defended its turf by reclaiming the Ndhiwa seat and fending off strong opposition from Musalia Mudavadi's UDF party to clinch the Bukura civic seat in Kakamega County.
