The worst peacetime disaster at sea happened ten years ago this month. On 26 September 2002, an old ship called MV Le Joola left the southern Senegalese city of Ziguinchor. But it never reached its destination Dakar. It perished off the Gambian coast in very rough weather. Almost 1,900 people lost their lives.
