Kenya Defence Forces Remembers Its Fallen Soldiers

Kenya marked the first Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) day at 10 engineers, in Nanyuki garrison, Laikipia County, in what will now become an annual event. The forces were also commemorating one year since they ventured into Somalia to fight the rag-tag militia, al-Shabaab following a spate of incidents in which the al-Qaeda linked insurgents violated Kenyan territory. Chief of defense forces general Julius Karangi unveiled a monument in honor of the fallen heroes, that is, those Kenyan soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty, while undercoring the forces' commitment to protecting Kenya's territorial integrity.
