This is not the first time that Omar Hamisi Mwamnwadzi, the chair of the Mombasa Republican Council, is finding himself on the wrong end of the law. Mwamnwadzi has been in and out of jail quite a number times since his days as a political activist in the coast region and a founder of the MRC in the late 1990's. In fact, in an earlier interview with Citizen TV Mwamnwadzi claimed he has been a frequent resident guest at Shimo La Tewa prison to the extent that he has been nicknamed 'customer' by both the inmates and the warders.
