The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is in possession of close to 15,000 Biometric Voter Registration kits, after the arrival of the final batch of 6,000 units. Chief Electoral Officer James Oswago says the kits will soon be dispatched to registration centres across the country ahead of the commencement of the electronic registration of voters on November 12. And as Alex Chamwada reports, the registration exercise is just the beginning of a host of activities that must be undertaken in readiness for the March 4, 2013, election, amid tight deadlines.
