Kenya: Supreme Court Declines to Hear Application

The Supreme Court has now ruled that it has jurisdiction to hear the Attorney General's petition on the courts advisory opinion on the two-thirds gender rule dilemma. Some lawyers had challenged the courts jurisdiction on grounds that dealing with the matter at the supreme court would lock out any other parties wishing to participate in the debate and that the matters on which advisory opinion was sought were outside the jurisdiction of the court.
