In Central Africa, sustainable timber production in some forest concession areas has actually helped to limit deforestation. But it's not yet known whether it can also increase overall carbon stocks and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. CIFOR's FORAFAMA project is analysing the impact of sustainable timber production in forest concession areas on the carbon stocks in those forests.
