Civil Society Wants Oil Bill Amended in Uganda

A section of the Civil society has commended members of parliament for refusing to pass the Oil and Petroleum bill in its current state.The Civil society warned that Uganda would suffer the same fate as Angola, Nigeria, Chad and Equatorial Guinea, if this resource is controlled by one individual.Of concern is clause 9 of the Bill which gives total authority to the Minister in Charge of Oil to license oil companies.
