After Kenya was bundled out of the CHAN Competition by Burundi following a goal-less second leg stalemate in Nairobi, the two towels spotted in Burundi's keeper Arthur Arakaza's goal has raised concerns.

Keeper Arakaza had two towels, a small maroon towel and a bigger blue towel. Fuss over the presence of the towel in the goal area almost resulted to a physical battle prompting the fourth official and the first assistant referee to rush into the pitch to try and cool the rising tempers. Ultimately, the referee instructed Arakaza to have the towel outside the field of play.

Not satisfied, Kenyan striker Moses Arita tried to instruct the ball boys behind the goal area to take away the towel but the Burundian keeper would not let them. Concerted efforts from the photojournalists however resulted in the towel being taken away and thrown to the fans who tore it into pieces. Law one of the FIFA rules however state that, in the field of play, the goalpost shall be fixed with a goal net which should not carry anything on it.

But the same rule is contentious because the same law is quite silent on the use of a towel by a keeper. Meanwhile local football governing body FKF, will release a comprehensive statement in regards to the future of the National team.
