The teachers' strike that was to start tomorrow has been called off. Teachers were to down their tools to demand payments of over Sh25 billion in allowances. Pressure has been mounting on the teachers union to drop plans for a strike with Cotu arguing that no meaningful negotiations could be held with government ministers at this time as many are involved in campaigns.
