No National Health Insurance System in Uganda

Uganda remains the only Country within the East African Community without a National Health Insurance system, a factor that is adversely undermining tangible investment in this sector. The International Finance Corporation IFC, a private sector lending arm of the World Bank now says that with hundreds of millions of dollars at its disposal to support investments in health, more legal and institutional reforms are needed in Uganda.
