Kofar Mata dye pit in Kano, northern Nigeria's largest city, is a heritage site that has defied modernity. With its 125 pits, the five-century-old site churns indigo fabrics that are much sought-after by the Hausa royalty and Tuaregs from neighbouring Niger.
