On Wednesday the South African Airways briefed Parliament on measures it is taking to curb irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure at the airline. The SAA has projected losses in excess of R800-million for the 2017-2018 financial year. The continuous losses incurred by SAA have caused it to depend heavily on borrowing to fund its operational costs. In March the state-run airline asked the Treasury for a R10 billion bail-out.
