Ebola cases are emerging in DR Congo (Equateur province) right now. But did you know this is actually the 9th Ebola outbreak in Congo since 1976? Previous deadly outbreaks were confined to really remote places and thus quickly contained. But this time, there are some cases in a major city. MSF and others are on the ground working to contain it, better yet, we have an additional tool to fight this virus. Vaccines! For the first time, a trial vaccine developed since the 2014 West Africa Ebola crisis will be used to try to contain Ebola here in Congo.
