Africa Media Leaders Explore Innovations for a Changing Landscape

The 2024 AllAfrica Media Leaders Summit in Nairobi from May 8 - 10 will bring together over 300 African media owners and operators, government officials, corporate leaders, academics, civil society champions, and development partners to discuss the business of media and the critical role in shaping Africa's future. The theme for the 2024 Summit is Re-engineering African Media in Times of Critical Transformation.

Economic and human development, social progress, peace, security, and responsible, effective governance cannot flourish without fair, accurate and reliable information dissemination in the digital era. The Summit will feature innovations to leverage the ever-changing media landscape revolutionized by emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and virtual reality.

Global media leaders, development experts, academics and corporate titans will share best practices to elevate ethics and combat information manipulation to advance Africa's economic transformation and human development. To complement the Summit, AllAfrica launched the Newsroom Innovation Youth Challenge for participants to discover new ways to engage Africa's youth in traditional media to advance African-led solutions to continental and global challenges.

AllAfrica and technology pioneer Ubuntu Tribe will introduce the "Ubuntuverse," a state-of-the-art metaverse platform designed to bridge cultures and accelerate educational and technological engagement across Africa.

The AllAfrica Media Leaders’ Summit will be held in May 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya showcasing its diverse and vibrant media landscape. The event format will feature a mix of keynotes, panels, open-floor discussions and workshops along with powerful networking platforms and events.

The 2024 AllAfrica Media Leaders’ Summit agenda revolves around 6 key pillars: African Economic Transformation; AI, Technology and Digitization; Regional Integration and Peace Building; Misinformation and Disinformation; Governance, Standards, and Capacity Building; Creating Sustainable Business Models. One of the key moments of the Summit will be the Heads of States’ roundtable, an invaluable and unique engagement. The Summit will be preceded by a youth challenge in the form of a competition designed to develop innovations for the newsrooms of the future.
