Kenya: Friday Memorial Service for Late CDF Ogolla Postponed Indefinitely

Nairobi — The memorial service for the late General Francis Ogolla that set for Friday has been postponed indefinitely the Kenya Defence Forces has announced.

In a statement, KDF indicated that a new date will be announced later due to the "overwhelming support and state burial" of the General.

"Following the overwhelming support and state burial of General Francis Ogolla, the Memorial Service scheduled for Friday 26 April 2024 at the Ulinzi sports complex Langata is now postponed. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

KDF expressed its appreciation to President William Ruto for leading the nation at both the military honors Memorial Service in Nairobi and the state Funeral at the General's home in Siaya.

General Ogola, who was appointed by President Ruto as the CDF in April 2023 died on April 18, 2024, alongside 9 other officers when their helicopter went down and burst into flames in Elgeyo Maralwet.

KDF further urged the nation to continue praying for the families of the General and the nine other officers who died with him.

"Whereas the three-day national period of mourning has come to a close and we re-engage in life without General Francis Ogolla, collectively may we continue to pray for the family of General Ogolla and all our fallen comrades following the helicopter crash," they stated
