Washington, D.C. — He burst onto the international scene in 1992 at the IAAF Junior Championships in SeoulL where he finished second in the 1500 meters. Despite continued racing success he startled the world, partly because of his switch from 1500m to 5000m, by winning Brundi's first gold medal at the Atlanta Olympics.
