Africa: Boxing And Judo Results

Most African boxers won their matches on Wednesday, but the continent's judo contestants fared less well. Results for September 20:

Boxing

In the Light Heavyweight division, Charles Adamu of Ghana beat Courtney Fry of Britain on points (16-3), and Danie Venter of South Africa won against Ihab Alyousef of Syria (12-9). However, George Olwande Odindo of Kenya lost on points against Alexey Katulievsky of Kyrgyzstan (2-11). Fall el Hadji Djibril of Senegal was outclassed by Russian Alexander Lebziak (round 3), and Azize Raguig of Morocco was overcome by Andri Fedtchouk of Ukraine when the referee stopped the contest in round 3 as a result of a headblow.

In the Light welterweight division, Ben Neequaye of Ghana beat Munga Fredrick Kinuthia of Kenya on points (14-2), while Olusegun Ajose of Nigeria won by a walkover against Anoushirvan Nourian of Iran. Mohamed Allalou of Algeria beat Lukas Konecny of the Czech Republic on points (17-9). Sami Khelifi of Tunisia lost on points to Alexandre Leonov of Russia (9-14).

Judo

In the men's Middleweight division, Skander Hachicha of Tunisia beat Khaled Meddah of Algeria but was later himself overcome by Hidehiko Yoshida of Japan. Jean Claude Raphael of Mauritius was beaten by Keith Morgan of Canada.

In the men's Half-middleweight division, Brahima Guindo of Mali lost against Kazem Sarikhani of Iran.

In the women's Middleweight, Lea Zahoui Blavo of Cote d'Ivoire was beaten by Ioulia Kouzina of Russia, Nesria Traki of Tunisia by Edith Bosch of the Netherlands, and Mariama Sonah Bah of Guinea by Daniela Yael Krukower of Argentina.
