Africa ’s leading mobile telecommunications company announces the launch of HeadStart which will give top talent a fast-track career into its dynamic business.
Under the slogan “Fashion. The future.” Celtel International announces the launch of its Graduate Development Programme – HeadStart, which is seeking the brightest, most talented young African graduates in order to advance their careers into future business leaders. The programme brings together the best practices from around the world to provide a consistent, high quality approach to the development of graduates. This approach adopts uniform standards, but stays flexible enough to cater for all the markets in which Celtel operates across Africa.
Announcing the programme, Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, founder and Chairman of Celtel International, said: “We have established HeadStart to give the best young people a unique chance to develop into the leaders of one of Africa’s most exciting companies.”
Graduates are being sought now to start working under the 15-month programme which will cover all of the 14 African countries in which Celtel operates. HeadStart will give graduates the opportunity to further develop their leadership skills and management and business knowledge in any of Celtel’s core business areas including sales, marketing, engineering, human resources and finance. While graduates will be recruited to work in one operation they will also benefit from spending part of their programme working at another Celtel operation. In addition, throughout the programme, all Graduate Trainees will have continuing access to the Celtel’s formal international training resources, the Celtel Academy, which trains Celtel employees at internationally recognised universities such as the London Business School in the United Kingdom and the University of the Witwatersrand (Witts University) in South Africa.
Mandla Ndlovu, Chief HR Officer of Celtel International added: “Celtel’s mission is to be the most successful pan-African telecommunications company. A key element in achieving this ambition is to be able to attract, develop and retain the very best new management talent under HeadStart. This programme will develop new business innovative leaders to strengthen Africa’s fast growing economies.”
