Africa Setting Standards for Global Mobile Industry

Celtel International, the largest pan African mobile telecommunications company, a subsidiary of MTC Group, announces the launch of One Office, which enables high speed and convenient internet access for all Celtel customers in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda .

Celtel International erased borders last year in East Africa by launching the world's first borderless mobile network. The offering known as One Network is being enhanced even further for customers in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda by allowing Celtel customers, who are travelling, easy access to internet, email, and Celtel Portal (Mobile Fun) the same way they do in their home country using the new One Office.

In addition to being able to move freely across geographic borders without roaming call surcharges and without having to pay to receive incoming calls Celtel customers can now access the internet just as easily and at a much faster speed.

As with Celtel's One Network customers using One Office do not have to subscribe for the service or move to a special tariff. There are no special subscription fees charged and customers do not need to change their handset settings, they simply take their phone to any East African country and use it absolutely the same way as they would in their home country. Additionally, at any given point of time customers can credit their accounts with locally purchased top up cards in any of Celtel's more than 140,000 points of sale throughout the region.

Speaking about One Office MTC Group Chief Commercial Officer, Tito Alai said "Our One Network has been followed up by major telephone operators around the world. It is not often that we see technical solutions developed in Africa and copied in Europe and America. It is great to see Africa setting global industry standards by bringing to our customers a service which addresses their need to stay in touch across the continent."

"One Office is another demonstration of our continued commitment to the extension and expansion of the One Network offering in respect to geographical coverage and product offerings. Earlier this year we expanded One Network to include the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Congo and Gabon - now with the introduction of new data services in East Africa we are ensuring that the most advanced and highly developed services are available to our customers. Our development however, does not stop here. We will continue to abide by our promise of connecting Africa like no other mobile phone company has been able to do to date."
