Lonrho Recruits General Manager to Expand Port and Shipping Division

Lonrho Plc (“Lonrho” or “the Company”) (AIM: LONR) today announces that it has recruited a senior executive, Peter Albeck, as General Manager of Lonrho’s Port and Shipping Division.

Peter Albeck joins the Company from Safmarine, where he was Chief Commercial Officer of the MPV Division from 2002. Safmarine is recognised as one of the world’s leading shipping companies and the industry’s leading specialist in Africa trade. He brings forty years of experience in the port and shipping industry across Africa and the North / South shipping lanes.

Lonrho views the port and shipping industry in Africa as a strategic industry sector, and is focused on building the Company’s current businesses, which includes SA Independent Liner Services Pty Ltd (SAILS) in South Africa and the Lonrho oil services port, Luba Freeport, in Equatorial Guinea. Peter’s role will be to expand Lonrho’s current operations and to deliver new opportunities as appropriate to the Lonrho Board.

SAILS (SA Liners) is a South Africa based container shipping line, with an operating fleet of 6 vessels. The main container service is to exporters and importers on the Europe, West African and South African trade routes.

Lonrho oil services port – Luba Freeport

Luba Freeport acts as a logistics centre for the burgeoning oil and gas industries in the Gulf of Guinea and services major oil companies in the region.
